National Emergency Medal - Update

CFA nominations for the National Emergency Medal resulting from the 2009 fires campaign went to the Australian Honours and Awards Secretariat (AH&AS) Canberra in September 2012.   There were 4,800 members on the list.

On 18 February, CFA’s OT&V staff participated in a teleconference with the AH&AS to discuss timelines for notification of outcomes to CFA and clarifying roles of members during the 2009 campaign.

CFA says it expects advice on the status of the nominations in the near future.  VFBV’s State Volunteerism Committee is working with CFA to plan for appropriate ceremonies and events to ensure that recipients of these important awards can come together in locations and at times that afford families and communities the ability to join in and witness the presentations.

Further information on the medal is available at Brigades Online > Running a Brigade > Service History & Awards > Honours and Awards or by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
