Flemington Family Day - Sat 13 March 2010

VRC Family Day

The Victorian Racing Club (VRC) in association with Racing Victoria Limited, Thoroughbred Racehorse Owners' Association (TROA), Australian Trainers' Association (ATA) and the Victorian Jockeys' Association (VJA), are again recognising VFBV & CFA Volunteers in their annual racing calendar.

All monies raised from last years event was donated to the VFBV Volunteer Development Trust Fund, which was established by VFBV to fund skill and educational development, for CFA Volunteers. The first pilot program funded by this trust is currently underway, with 25 Volunteers having been selected by their Regional Councils to participate in a Leadership Scholarship.

This year, the VRC and its associates will pay tribute to our Volunteers on Saturday 13 March 2010, Family Day - featuring Blamey Stakes (G2).

*** Update: Everyone who filled out an Expression of Interest has now been emailed the details for the day. ***

What Is Family Day?

The meeting offers families the opportunity to enjoy Australia’s premier racetrack, outstanding racing, live entertainment and a host of activities to captivate racegoers of all ages in a relaxing and friendly atmosphere.

There are heaps of free kids’ activities that will be held on the Flemington lawn near the horse stalls, including Camp Australia activities, a jumping castle, pony rides, an animal farm, face painting, roving clowns and outdoor games.

Families can also meet former champions and ‘Living Legends’ horses Might And Power and Rogan Josh on the day.

Justine Clarke, singer, actress and ‘Play School’ star, will have her young fans up and dancing when she makes a very special live performance on course.

Kids Activities

Our special guest performer on the day, will be Justine Clarke! Justine will perform a FREE concert on the day from her amazing CD’s ‘Songs to Make You Smile’ & ‘I Like to Sing’. Justine is one of our favourite’s singers/performers especially on Play School. She will have a super cool band there so make sure you don’t miss her.

There will be heaps of FREE Camp Australia kids’ activities with a jumping castle, pony rides, animal farm, face painting, roving clowns, outdoor games and much more all happening on the day.

Don’t forget that kids need to be accompanied by an adult at all times at Flemington racecourse so bring your parents with you to Flemington and have great day out

Super Family Day will also highlight two special causes, commemorating National Jockey Celebration Day with the Gr 3 Fillies and Mares 1400m race named in tribute. The Flemington track will receive a special blessing by Father Brendan Dillon and a minute’s silence will be held to honour fallen jockeys.

The VRC will also dedicate the Gr 3 Volunteers Matron Stakes to thanking emergency service volunteers for their work in protecting our state from fire and other natural disasters.

Tabcorp has also come to the party, providing a $6 BIG6 betting voucher to every member and racegoers, with two lucky punters to be randomly selected on entry to win a $1000 BIG6 from the TAB. The Victorian Bookmakers Association will also provide 500 $10 vouchers for punters on Super Family Day.

The VRC have also donated some meal vouchers for our members, which we will distribute via the names on our RSVP list that was open over the last 2 weeks. These vouchers will be available from the CFA marquees that you will find set-up on the lawns.

As its a Family day – we would encourage you to bring the family, and even consider packing a picnic lunch or snacks. Alcohol is not permitted to be bought in, however you are free to bring in any food you like, and a picnic rug or blanket would also allow you to relax on the lawned areas.
