"DRIVER TRAINING & ENDORSEMENT STRATEGY" Discussion Paper  

Feedback from Region 13 & other Regions has closed & information is being consolidated for review. Once reviewed the Driver Training Endorsement Strategy will commence development. Review phase finished in June.  

"HELP OUT" PROJECTS Supporting Volunteer Firefighters Hit Hard On Black Saturday

The next round of "Help Out Projects" is being planned.

Wildhaven at St Andrews is the next job, with a large number of piled up dead trees to be burnt, date to be announced shortly.

Roof plumber, plasterers & carpenters required to assist on a house construction job at St Andrews.

REMINDER TIPS FOR REGIONAL COUNCIL MEETINGS Process & Procedures

To have your Regional Council support your issue(s) and to be able to take the issue forward to State Level or to other areas as needed, please ensure in the first instance that your Brigade submits the issue to Regional Council.

To ensure we deal with business an an efficient, timely manner, and to keep our regional council meetings flowing ensure brigade motions / business to regional council are submitted to the Secretary well in advance of the next meeting.

KEY POINTS IN BRIEF RAISED BY BRIGADES AT THE JULY 11TH MEETING

• Resolved to conduct a poll on issues surrounding PPC, to enable State delegates to take accurate information forward at State level
• Take forward issue of brigades not having internet access
• Improve process of VFBV being notified on deaths of firefighters
• Listening sets, concern expressed about feedback (numbers) not been fedback into VFBV
• Conference for brigade auxiliaries support groups  to be held at Fiskville, Christine Nixon & Beyond Blue guest speakers. 14th August details V. Linaker The Basin Brigade 0409 845 458
• Explanation of what the pager firmware upgrade is about to be forwarded onto brigades
• Individual volunteers on scene requesting pager activation for traffic control only, not supported by CAD
• First aid kits maintenance by contractor not supported, brigade members to handle own kits
• Recruitment campaigns targeting women only not supported by meeting should be across the board
• Brigades to be readvised on correct procedure for use of flash hoods

"BUSHFIRE AUSTRALIA" TarraWarra Museum of Art Healesville

The exhibition of paintings "Bushfire Australia" examines the recuurence of bushfire imagery in the work of Australian Artists. The exhibition is now finished and TarraWarra Museum of Art have kindly donated a number exhibition catalogues for volunteer firefighters. The catalogue contains colour prints of paintings by many well known Australian Artists such as Arthur Boyd, Fred Williams, Clifton Pugh, David Larwill and Rick Amor to name a few. KNOX FIRE BRIGADES 2011 Torchlight

Planning is now underway for the Knox Fire Brigades 2011 Firefighters Torchlight March. The date set is for Saturday the 5th March 2011. Details to be posted on a regular basis.
