The hearts of CFA volunteers go out to everyone affected by the recent disastrous floods, and our encouragement goes to the volunteers and other emergency service personnel working to protect their communities.
Emergency Service volunteers are often victims of the disaster too, losing homes, businesses and other assets while they work to protect their communities.
Funds are in place to assisit with Volunteers who have been directly impacted by the floods. Both funds are volunteer run, and are designed to respond quickly to help volunteer firefighters in need.
To help Victorian Volunteer firefighters, CFA & VFBV have modified our existing Drought Relief Fund that has been operating since 2007 to update it to a Natural Disaster Support Fund. All funds collected will be used to support Victorian CFA volunteers and their immediate families affected by Natural disasters such as Flood, Drought and Fire. Branch: Bendigo Bank The fund is administered by a sub-committee of the VFBV Board, which makes it low on red tape and quick to help those in greatest need. In the immediate term this fund will be used to provide assistance to CFA volunteers affected by the Floods. CFA volunteers are drawn from the same community that they protect, so volunteers are sometimes victims too, losing homes, businesses or other assets. This fund will operate in the same way that the CFA/VFBV Drought Support Fund Operated, every cent donated will go directly to volunteers. No administration costs are deducted from the fund, and are borne entirely by CFA and VFBV. Donations can be made to VFBV's fund by visiting any Bendigo Bank branch and using the following details: Account name: CFA/VFBV Support Fund Or by posting a cheque made payable to; "CFA/VFBV Support Fund" and mailed to: CFA/VFBV Support Fund |
To help Queensland's Volunteer Firefighters, you can donate to the Volunteer Support Fund which is run by the Rural Fire Brigades Association of Queensland, at any branch of the ANZ Bank. It to is volunteer-run, which makes it low on red tape and quick to help those in greatest need. It can get assistance to volunteers who have lost everything, where insurance does not cover their loss and government aid is still on the way. The account details are as follows: Branch: ANZ Gympie Volunteer Fire Brigades Victoria's Black Saturday Volunteer Recovery Fund helped hundreds of CFA volunteers who had lost their homes and assets to the Black Saturday fires. The Volunteer Support Fund is doing the same work for volunteers affected by Queensland's floods, and every dollar you donate can make a difference. |
