Where: State Parliament, front steps

Handover of a framed copy of the CFA Volunteer Charter, involving the Premier, the Minister for Emergency Services, Volunteer Fire Brigades Victoria’s President Gary Lyttle (who is a CFA volunteer) and CFA volunteers in turnout gear.

Background:

VFBV officials will spend the day providing briefings to senior government and opposition MPs.

The briefings will include details of the needs and opinions of Victoria’s 60,000 CFA volunteers, and how they can add their experience and technical knowledge to the State’s decision making process.

Additional notes:

The charter is an agreement between the State Government, the CFA and Volunteer Fire Brigades Victoria, which represents Victoria’s CFA 60,000 volunteers.

The charter affirms the commitment of the State Government and CFA to ensuring volunteer welfare, training and consultation in all matters that may affect them.

With fire such a major issue in the state, the charter is a commitment to involving volunteers in the decision making process and making use of their expertise and experience before important decisions are made.
