Issues of Interest - Detailed View

One Service Award for all Volunteers

Long Service AwardIn the second half of 2006 VFBV forwarded a survey to all brigades seeking their preference of two alternative ribbons for a long service award for all CFA members – both volunteers and staff.

297 brigades responded and in a close decision the chequerboard decision was the most favoured (as pictured left).

VFBV has been working with CFA to progress this project which will see volunteers who have served 10 years or more receive a long service ribbon, badge and a lapel badge. These badges will replace the existing long service badges for volunteers and staff.

VFBV is happy to report that the CFA Board approved the new design service award for all members at the 26 November 2007 Board meeting. CFA is currently working on securing a manufacturer, funding and distribution process for the new awards.

At this stage, it is anticipated that the new service awards will come into action mid to late 2008.

VFBV will advise of any further developments regarding the new style service award as soon as it comes to hand.
