Issues of Interest - Detailed View
November 25 Special Meeting: Volunteers losing confidence in the CFA Board, CFA Management and Government.
A meeting was held Sunday 25 November 2007 with representation of over 100 senior volunteers including: VFBV Board members, State Council Association delegates, Regional Presidents and Group Officers.
One of the key outcomes of the meeting is a consistent and strong view that CFA Board, Management and Government need to be told that:
“Volunteers are losing confidence in the CFA Board, CFA management and Governments commitment to protecting the rights of volunteers and protecting the future of CFA as a volunteer based organisation into the future”.
As a bottom line volunteers want:
- Treat volunteers equally as a minimum
- No differential treatment of volunteers
- No impact of industrial agreements on decision making on volunteer matters
- Volunteer Charter to be honoured
- Convince us that CFA Board and CFA Chief Officer can manage their legislative accountabilities within an integrated CFA model
- Achieve a binding mechanism applicable to both UFU and Associations, where any matter that impacts on both volunteers and paid staff to be subject to (fair genuine and transparent) consultation between all parties AS EQUALS, with neither the union nor the volunteer’s Association having any right to withhold agreement on CFA’s ultimate decision.
